CAL FIRE Technosylva

23 Mar 2022

CAL FIRE faced the challenges of early wildfire detection, the ability to adequately dispatch the most appropriate response, and the ability to better predict the wildfire’s path, especially given California’s unique terrain and weather characteristics.

Participants will learn how, starting in 2020, CAL FIRE gained the strategic and tactical ability to leverage advanced fire behaviour modelling to generate proactive risk forecasts through Technosylva’s Wildfire Analyst™ Enterprise (WFA-E) solution. This insight provides CAL FIRE with clear intelligence for staffing, prepositioning, decision making, and risk clarity for initial-attack units. This also provides real-time situational awareness for operations, seamless information uploads from the field, and a single repository for incident data that enhances CAL FIRE’s operational efforts.  Participants will additionally see how these can assist aerial operations in forecasted fire-ground conditions, spread, and risk profiling.

Phillip SeLegue, Deputy Chief of Intelligence - CAL FIRE, USA
